Those were President Trump's words to me nearly one year ago when I asked him at a national meeting of state attorneys general in Washington, D.C. to explain his unconstitutional and discriminatory order banning travel into the U.S.
That's when it hit me. Hawai‘i was going to have to speak up and fight to protect Hawai‘i’s progressive values. Since then, as the Hawai‘i state attorney general, I have taken these actions:
I’ve been on the frontlines in courts, since the day this President was inaugurated. In 2018, I want to take the fight to Congress.
I love our country and the values for which it stands – equality, diversity, and justice. Like so many taking a stand for what's right, I want to speak truth to power and show it by my actions. I am so glad to have you by my side.
